About the Therapist

My name is Regina Kerrigan, but you can call me Gina. I'm a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the state of Maryland (License #LC16735) and a National Certified Counselor (NCC #1729316). I earned a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Hood College in Frederick, Md.

I have worked in both the community mental health setting and private practice settings. I have experience working with clients with a variety of concerns, including generalized anxiety, social anxiety, depression, attachment & interpersonal trauma, developmental trauma, dissociation, relational and betrayal trauma, sexual abuse, obsessive compulsive disorder, and complicated grief & loss.

I’m particularly interested in the development of the sense of self. I aim to help clients first understand how their experiences have contributed to their current struggles and work alongside them as they make meaningful changes to improve their mental health. I’m passionate about helping clients find compassion for themselves and make meaning of their pasts.

I approach treatment through an attachment- and trauma-focused lens. I’ve completed Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) training and am currently working toward EMDRIA certification. I’ve completed IFS-Informed (Internal Family Systems Therapy) training, as well as additional training in both EMDR and I-CBT for their use in the treatment of OCD. I additionally pull from principles of somatic therapy, mindfulness, and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy. I’m happy to explain my approach at any time during treatment.
