Therapist Bio

Regina Kerrigan goes by Gina and is a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor in the state of Maryland (License #LGP14171) and a National Certified Counselor (NCC #1729316). She earned her Master of Science in Counseling from Hood College in Frederick, Md. Gina practices under the supervision of Dr. Megan Shaine, LCPC.

Gina has worked in both community mental health and private practice settings. She has experience working with clients with a variety of concerns, including generalized anxiety, social anxiety, depression, attachment/developmental trauma, dissociation, relational and betrayal trauma, sexual abuse, obsessive compulsive disorder, complicated grief & loss, and autism spectrum. Gina is particularly interested in the development of one’s sense of self. She is passionate about helping clients find compassion for themselves and make meaning of their pasts.

Gina approaches treatment through an attachment- and trauma-focused lens. She is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and she is IFS-Informed (Internal Family Systems Therapy). Gina has completed additional EMDR training for its use in the treatment of OCD. She additionally pulls from principles of somatic therapy and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy. Gina is happy to explain her approach at any time during treatment.
